And those things include moving firearms or ammunition. Because for us, we want to make sure that everyone is safe.
So making plans to independently move those items ahead of time is definitely something that we recommend. Alternatively, anything that is potentially flammable or explosive. So think about if you have like a lawnmower or a propane tank or even a fire extinguisher. You want to make sure that you make plans for those prior to your movers arrival.
So that way nothing in your household goods is at risk of potentially any type of damage. Now you also want to make sure that any type of live plants or live animals are taken care of as well. Because, I mean, think about it, in Houston, with the heat and the summer, putting live plants inside of an enclosed box truck, the likelihood of that plant not making it is very good.
So, if you think about landscapers, they have open bed trailers, which are specially designed for moving live plants. And then we have live animals. Well, definitely not wanting to move any. And the craziest story that we’ve ever had was a customer actually wanted us to move their donkey. And it was one of those things where we had to explain that it’s not a service that we provide, but it was definitely interesting to say the least.
One last thing to take into consideration is perishable foods. We really don’t think about the contents in our refrigerator and freezer before it’s too late. So before your move date, get a few coolers and transfer the items into the coolers and transfer them independently. And also make sure that with your freezer, you definitely defrost it in advance so you have enough time to prepare for a stress free move.
